“Being a new parent can be a scary thing,” Dr. Eisen says. “As they say, children don’t come with instruction books. We try very hard to make sure that the parents and children feel at ease.”

It’s not unusual to find the doctors chatting with parents on such topics as bed-wetting, thumb sucking, sleep problems, diet, breast-feeding and developmental milestones. Older children receive educational instruction, too. The doctors spend time with each family to make sure they thoroughly understand all of the important issues and that all questions have been addressed. Teenager and Pre-Teen Care

Many people mistakenly think that once a child reaches puberty, it’s time for an adult doctor. This is actually not true! Pediatricians are the only medical specialists who are specifically trained for the needs of children and adolescents. While other practitioners may treat a broad age range of patients, pediatricians take great effort staying up on the latest care trends and research specifically geared for the pediatric population.

Adolescents are not “little adults”, they are highly complex and require special expertise to address their important issues. Adolescent well visits often involve discussions regarding school success, future plans, avoiding risky behaviors and other topics that concern teens and their parents.

The physicians of Warrenton Pediatrics are always available. When you call after hours with an emergency, you’ll never get an answering service. Both doctors take calls directly by cell phone, and are ready to answer your questions or address your concerns whenever they arise.
